Abstract

The Problem of the Study: Quality of life is a concept that includes emotional, mental, social, physical and behavioral variables. Personality consists of the inheritance characteristics of human, family characteristics, interaction between social and environmental factors. Personality characteristics and behaviors that occur in the early stages of life are an important factor affecting the quality of life. This research is based on the assumption that quality of life will vary according to personality characteristics. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between quality of life and personality traits in university students. The Purpose of the Study: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between quality of life and personality traits in university students. Method: In the first part of the data collection forms used in the research, a demographic information form consisting of fourteen questions was used. In the second part of the data collection tool, Sf-12 health survey which is short version of Sf-36 developed by Ware(1993) and colleagues and its Turkish validity and realibity made by Koçyiğit (1999) and colleagues was used. In the third part of the data collection tool, The Five Factor Personality scale developed by John (1991) and colleagues and adapted to Turkish by Sümer (2005) and colleagues was used. Fifty-three students were included in the study. Findings and Results: There was no correlation between quality of life and personality traits among female students. There was negative correlation between quality of life and agreeableness personality traits among male students.
