| dc.description.abstract | The role of metallic nanoparticles in controlled and targeted drug delivery is a rapidly evolving field, promising to revolutionize modern medicine. This chapter explores the unique properties of mostly used metallic nanoparticles, including gold, silver, iron, zinc oxide, cerium oxide, and titanium dioxide, and their applications in enhancing drug delivery systems. By leveraging surface functionalization and targeting capabilities, these nanoparticles can improve the efficacy and precision of therapeutic interventions. Gold and iron nanoparticles are highlighted for their superior performance in targeted drug delivery, while zinc oxide and titanium dioxide offer cost-effective and biocompatible alternatives. However, challenges such as varying biocompatibility, potential toxicity, scalability, and regulatory hurdles must be addressed. This chapter highlights the importance of ongoing research and optimization in nanoparticle design to address these challenges. By advancing the application of metallic nanoparticles, we can achieve more effective, personalized, and safer drug delivery systems, significantly improving patient outcomes and healthcare quality. | |
